Why Start a Blog?

Everybody has a dream of being famous. The advent of the internet has allowed each person to have their 15 seconds (down from 15 minutes) of fame. So why start a blog? Why not?
When I was in high school, I used to consider myself to be a very good writer. As I pursued my career in engineering, I fell away from writing. Skills in communicating clearly in a written form seem to not be in demand as much as they used to be: everybody uses LOL and 😉 to inform others of their impending doom or amusement.
However, as I’ve aged (not so gracefully), I’ve found the desire to express some of the things that I’ve observed over the years: interesting things, rants, random thoughts. Whether they will last for 15 seconds or whether they will overcome the scum floating on the surface of the internet remains to be seen.
